Principles of Christian Living

The greatest need of the natural man is to receive his Salvation – To be enlightened to receive Jesus as his Lord and Savior and know that when he dies, he will spend eternity in heaven, in the presence of the Lord. The moment a man chooses to confess Jesus as his Lord and Savior, he becomes a child of God, receives forgiveness of all his sins, is given the gift of righteousness, is fully justified by the Father in heaven, and receives the life of God. At that moment, many things happen in his spirit, in heaven, and in his future on earth, although he does not know it nor understands it.

The Bible refers to the new believer as a babe who needs to be nurtured and matured. From that moment on, the greatest needs for the new believer are, to be transformed by:

1) The power of the Holy Spirit, who comes to dwell inside the new believer to help develop a consistent prayer life and guide their way out of darkness into the admirable light of Christ.

2)       Consistently reading the Scriptures in a manner that profits his spiritual growth.

3)       Congregating in a church, being discipled with love and Godly instruction by a Godly priest or woman of God, until they are empowered for the work of Jesus Christ.

These three things will occur when the following three are present:

1)       The ministry of the Holy Spirit operates in the believer as the Holy Spirit will promote the babe’s transformation by renewing their mind and teaching them to develop a strong life of prayer and fellowship with fellow believers.

2)       The Ministry of the Word of God, where the believer will learn the thoughts and ways of God. (1 Peter 2:1-2 “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby.”

3)       The ministry of a discipleship or mentorship, because every new believer needs a person to teach them, to learn about Jesus Christ, the Word of God, to grow and be transformed.

One of the most important aspects of the Christian faith is that the God we worship desires His children on earth to have a personal, functional, and intimate relationship with Him. The Scripture in John 1:1-5 says: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

These verses present Jesus as the eternal Word of God, present with God from the beginning, and the source of creation and life. It emphasizes that the Word is God, through whom all things were made, and in whom is life and light, which the darkness cannot overcome. God wants to be known by those who come to Him, and that they develop an intimate relationship with Him. To this effect, He “gave us the right to be called children of God” John 1:12.
